Veneta Stoyanova
Veneta Stoyanova
For some, music is a hobby. For Veneta it is heritage, profession and destiny: born into a family of musicians, she plays the guitar, sings – and has known the choir’s rehearsal hall since she was a child.
The Journey
I was born into a family of musicians. My grandfather was a French horn player in the Varna Philharmonic, my aunt played the viola there, and my mother is a pianist. I am a graduate of the Varna School of Music, where I studied classical guitar. To this day music is my profession – I play the guitar and I sing.
My love for choral art was born at an early age, thanks to my brother, who sang for 12 years in the Varna Boys’ and Youth Choir under the direction of Prof. Marin Chonev. As a child I often attended their rehearsals in the very hall where we rehearse today – I knew their entire programme and eagerly awaited their concerts.
My own path in choral singing began in a folklore choir led by Dobrinka Koleva, and after I entered the School of Music it continued in a classical choir.
To stand among the rows of a choir is to be part of one living instrument, in which every voice has its place – and the true magic is born when they all come together.
